November art meeting combined with craft
Saturday, October 14, 2006
October
Nine of us attended the art group including one guest and one new member. Despite the number once again we had an almost spiritually calming two hours of dedicated silence apart from a break for tea. Next month we have the combined two groups art and craft which may be even more entertaining.
Painting of Emma Hamilton mistress of Lord Nelson by George Romney. She is immortalised in books and films as a great coutesan - the mistress of Lord Nelson born in 1765 into almost unimaginable poverty.

September art group
Nine of us for today's art group spent a peaceful afternoon painting using different materials as well as Bridget engaged in craft work. Dave did a brilliant painting of an axe and log but not having a camera I can only put my own pitiful contribution to the afternoon's proceedings. This is my attempt to copy the 1860 picture taken from the Daily Mail. It is a Sir John Everett Millais painting "The black Brunswicker" the lady (Katey)posing is the daughter of Charles Dickens. She died in 1929.

August meeting
Seven of us turned up for the art group. Photo of two dedicated artists with picture of the bucolic scenery glimpsed in the photo. Also another effort of mine showing two figures in a courtyeard setting.
