Just seven of us today, there were no craft members. Some of us were productive Dave used pastels for the mountain scene. Pat worked on her snow scene in preparation for the art class. Mary was finishing the young lady with the small dog.

15 of us 5 craft and 10 art today. The craft group worked on little mice while talking about somebody who had a real mouse that lived in a toaster. It only left its home when toast was required. A strange story. Dave's finished coloured pencil drawing of flowers was excellent and Henry who normally produces scenes with buildings, painted a child's face.

An industrious afternoon, the craft group were instructed on the Japanese tradition of making decorative balls. These colorfully decorated balls are called temari. The picture is from the net as none were available to photo. For the art side most were only just started but the dog Sue drew with coloured pencils on coloured paper and the yacht was Mary's finally the modest shore line painting was mine.

Really a nice day with lots of light streaming through the windows gave a nice atmosphere after the long winter. We decided to remain in the hall despite the very high increase in costs just means we will have to pay £1 each every time we attend.
The craft section produced some really good sweet peas in sugar craft.
A new one on me. Dave painted a very bright garden feature with a sundial. Henry the street scene in the rain. Sue painted horses and Pat the Turner painting. Joan the hazelnuts while I used pastels to draw the jug and pear.

We are having a sugarcraft demonstration. If you would like to" have a go " yourself, you will need to bring a small melamine chopping board and something such as a piece of dowling to use as a rolling pin. All other equipment will be provided.

Excellent painting by Mary of a rural street scene while the craft group excelled themselves by creating decorative minature shopping bags to contain gifts such as an Easter Egg. While another project completed from last month was the necklaces. Not forgetting what I am told is quilling an elaborate decoration made from strips of paper. I found this on the net:
Have you ever thought of a tiny strip of paper as being a medium for a work of art? If not, then you are probably not alone. Yet an ancient art form is just that. I am referring to the delicate art of paper quilling. It is not known with accuracy exactly where or when this art form got is start, but some feel that it can be traced back as far as the culture of Ancient Egypt. Some of their tombs were found to be decorated with thin metal filigree shapes that remind one of the shapes found in modern quilling.

Smaller numbers today and as the craft group never completed the project no photograph. As the art group insisted my effort was good I'm vain enough to put my impressionist painting of two figures in a rain dappled road and a sketch of a dog and cat on line for your admiration. Well we can't all be brilliant.
